Karen talks about her experience as a designer and inventor, and what ‘designing for impact’ means in the wearables space.

Karen Welman is an award-winning graphic designer and creative partner at Pearlfisher – a successful design consultancy that employs 55 people in London and New York. Since becoming a mother of four, Karen’s career has evolved from designer to inventor. Her patented inventions include the WellBaby car seat, which converts at the touch of a button into a stroller, the WellBaby cot, which adjusts to extend from the parents’ bed, and 37º, a range of temperature-regulating baby clothes featuring NASA-developed fabrics.
