Simon is founder of Stripe Partners, a growth consultancy based in London that develops business strategy based on a deep understanding of society and culture.
Simon has helped pioneer the use anthropology in business internationally, and in a range of industries. He founded Ideas Bazaar, one of the first ethnographic research consultancies in Europe, before establishing an R&D lab at Intel Corporation where he directed research, design and product development efforts in health and ageing and led a major industry-academic collaboration on technology for independent living. Simon was seconded to the UK Cabinet Office where he worked on digital policy for older people.
Simon’s enduring interest is in the dance between technology and culture and what that means for innovation, design and business. That interest began with research on the satellite television revolution in India, and was cemented as ethnographer-in-residence on the iSociety programme at the Work Foundation. The journey continues with client engagements on current and future technologies in health, consumer goods and the media. His current research interests include data (big or small) and the history of the idea of ‘Smart’.
